Choose the Book Cover!

One of the most exciting parts of publishing, is getting to see the book cover! For my new release, I’m a little torn between several options, so I NEED YOUR HELP TO DECIDE!

This is for my upcoming release, The Lady and the Doctor, sequel to The Lady and the Mountain Man, and falls into the Christian Historical Romance genre. The cover images below include both the front and back cover.

Please leave a comment to tell me which most makes you want to read the book!

Or if you have better ideas, I’d love to hear them!

Option 1: BookCoverOption1

Option 2: BookCoverOption2

Option 3: BookCoverOption3

Option 4: BookCoverOption4

Option 5:  BookCoverOption5

I can’t wait to hear your feedback!

  1. I like options three and five, five being the best. One because it looks a lot like your first book cover, and two because her hairstyle makes her look more like a lady.

If you could put lady 5s picture on the background of the third, it would be even better.

Guess I didn’t help much, huh?

  2. I was going to say option one–that’s the composition I like best, and it’s obviously historical. But then I went up and looked up your first book cover, LOL. Continuity is important, and that’s the only one that doesn’t fit–go figure! I like the woman used in options 2 and 4 in that case–she looks more historical with just her torso visible. Kinda agree with Ginger that the background of 3 is my favorite…

  3. Dear Misty,

Option #1 makes me want to read the book! 🙂

The other options make me pause, wonder what the book’s about and walk away without even picking it up.

    Hope this helps! 🙂

  4. This is such a fun post!!! Hmm. I’m loving option 1, but here’s what I’d do with it (continuity aside):

    — Put your name at the bottom and make it white instead, so the contrast will naturally make it stand out.
    — Put your title, in black, brown or green, over a transparent white “cloud” or “framed box” over the space where the mountains are.

(To see what I mean about the box or cloud, see Karen Witemeyer’s “Love on the Mend” or “The Outlaw Takes a Bride” by Susan Page Davis or “The Inheritance” by Tamera Alexander. The little whispy, scroll-like flourishes also add a special touch.)

You may be using it already, but Canva.com is awesome for projects like this. 🙂

Hope this helps! Looks like it will be a great book!

  5. This is all so hard, Misty, since they’re all very good. I think I like Option #1 the best. It seems to show Miriam close to the way I visualized her in The Lady and the Mountain Man. Can’t wait to read the book!

  6. I think I’d steer clear of Option 1….. It looks too much like Heart of Stone, by Jill Marie Landis. I’ve had some of the same issue with one of my books. In my case, the model’s image appeared in a very popular Spanish language novel releasing a couple years after mine, but I still got some email from it (mostly amused email, but a bit of confusion, too.) All are lovely though!

  7. I like #2 and #4 best. I think one of those will go with the cover of the first book. The first cover is pretty but it reminds me of another Christian Historical book I have. Either of these covers would make me pause to read what the book was about. Good luck deciding!
